The City of South Perth recognises young people as valuable members of our community and as such aims to ensure that decision making processes are inclusive of young people, and that services and facilities are provided that are responsive to their needs.

The City coordinates a number of youth oriented programs - the most significant being the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) along with various other programs including:

Speak with Confidence awards - a once yearly public speaking competition for young people in  Year Six and Seven

School Book Awards - a once yearly award offered to each of  the Schools in the Area - to pass on to students in recognition of their efforts throughout the year.

Banners in the Terrace - an opportunity for young people to showcase their artistic skills and talents - by painting a banner representing their area which is then exhibited during local government week.

Youth Scholarship - an agreement between the city and various schools within the city - where low income families receive support for young people in school.

Ted Maslen University Exhibition - An annual award (valid for 3 years) awarded to the highest TER achiever within the City of South Perth.

YAC - The City of South Perth Youth Advisory Council meets once per month and plays a key part in organizing various events such as: Rock 4 Shore, National youth week, Graffiti Art projects, Community Arts Projects and also represents the views and opinions of young people to both the city and various other state and national bodies.
The YAC Still has positions available - so if you have an opinion or an idea we would like to hear about it.
