Impounded Dogs
If you discover that your dog is missing, your first point of contact should always be the Community Rangers. We may have found and/or impounded your dog, or have been contacted by a concerned community member who has reported seeing or may even be fostering your dog. It is also a good idea to speak with neighbours, check familiar locations you visit with your dog, and go for a drive in the surrounding areas.

Community Rangers understand the stress an owner may experience when they discover that their pet is missing, and will do everything they can to assist in the dog being located and safely returned to the custody of the owner. The City keeps up to date records of the dogs who are currently impounded, and posts photographs of these dogs on our website.

However, it is always recommended to contact the Community Rangers if you think your dog may be in the pound, or has gone missing.

Collecting your dog
When a dog has been impounded the owner is required to pay an impound fee prior to the dog being released.  If the dog has been at the pound for more than two days the owner will also be required to pay a daily sustenance fee for the up keep of the dog.  

Impound Fee:                     $70.00
Daily Sustenance Fee:     $16.50

Dog Registration is a legal requirement, and if the dog is not registered the owner will also be required to register the dog prior to the dog being released from the pound. If the dog is registered you will need to provide proof of this. Registration Fees are as follows:

1 Year:        $30 for an unsterilised dog or bitch,
                     $10 sterilised.  

3 Years:       $75 for an unsterilised dog or bitch,
                      $18 sterilised.  

Pensioners receive a 50% concession on registration fees only.

Pound Opening Hours
11.30am to 12.30pm seven days a week except for Christmas Day and Good Friday.

Dogs for sale
The total cost for dogs purchased from the pound is $207.00. This includes registration and an administration fee. This fee includes a refundable amount of $150.00 once the dog is steralised and proof of the sterilastion certificate is received.  A cheque will be posted to you.
