PARKS & RESERVES
Throughout the City of South Perth there are both neighbourhood and major
parks and reserves, which enable the City’s community to take part in recreational
pursuits on either active or passive reserves. Free use of playground equipment,
a skate park and cycle/walking paths is available at more than 50 sites around
the City. The degree and type of equipment varies from site to site, but
is spread through the City to cater for all sectors of the community.
Sir James Mitchell Park, Neil McDougall Park , Comer Reserve and
George Burnett Park are all high profile areas which cater for large and
small groups. They, and many other locations, are ideal for social or corporate
functions, picnics, barbecues and weddings.
Barbecue facilities are provided free of charge at many Parks and
Reserves throughout the City.
Conditions apply for groups wanting to hire one of the City's Parks
and Reserves for a social or corporate function including:
* complete and have the City approve an "Application to Hire Public Property"
form;
* pay any fees and bonds prescribed in writing by the City; and
* comply with all conditions and requirements as outlined and confirmed by
the City.
Groups considering hiring one of the City's Parks and Reserves are
encouraged to speak to one of the City's Officers at the George Burnett Leisure
Centre on 9474 0855 prior to sending in an application. The City can then
assist in being able to coordinate the plans and licence for the booking.

A colourful addition to the City's most accessible playground,
within Sir James Mitchell Park near Hurlingham Road, South Perth is the City's
Liberty Swing
This new piece of playground equipment is designed especially for
people with special needs and can be used with or without a wheelchair. Children
and adults alike will benefit from this opportunity to enjoy the sensation
of riding a swing.
