To be able to vote in the City of South Perth elections you need to be enrolled. Residents of the City can vote in local elections if they are eligible to vote in state elections and are listed on the electoral roll. The Electoral Roll for those wishing to vote in the October 2011 local government elections will close on Friday, 26 August 2011.
Election Information
Local government elections are held on the third Saturday in October every two years.
Council Members are elected for a four-year term. At each election, half of the Council positions are declared vacant and a poll is conducted to determine the incoming Council Members. That is, one Council Member in each ward vacates their seat and one from each ward continues.
The City of South Perth holds postal elections, which are conducted on its behalf by the Western Australian Electoral Commission. For dates and more information view the Election Timetable.
An Extraordinary Postal Election will be held on Thursday 23 February 2012 in the City of South Perth to fill the following vacancy: Manning Ward 1 Councillor 2 year term (Term to expire 19 October 2013)
