Wes Carr for Foreshore Festival

Lovers of the Swan River foreshore will get to enjoy the best of both worlds in February 2010 with the very first run of a new free concert event, featuring a very popular and talented performer.

The Town of Victoria Park and the City of Perth have partnered to bring 2008 Australian Idol winner, Wes Carr to Perth to headline an exciting new event for next year’s summer free entertainment calendar.

Wes Carr’s love affair with music began from the age of 12 when he started teaching himself guitar and piano in the suburbs of Adelaide.

Since that time he followed his passion into the wider Australian music scene playing with bands and performers like Abby Dobson (Leonardo's Bride) and Paul Mac, as well as writing music with people like Don Walker (Cold Chisel), Andrew Farris (INXS), and Endorphin amongst others, over the years.

In 2008 Wes Carr auditioned for Australian Idol and won the title, which has created yet another exciting chapter ahead.

Since this time Wes has already enjoyed plenty of success with his post-Idol debut single ‘You’ - hitting number one in the Australian Music Charts and reaching Platinum status. This singer, musician and songwriter is enjoying further solo success with the release of his first album, The Way the World Looks.

“The Town of Victoria Park is really looking forward to partnering with the City of South Perth to bring this new event to our communities. Signing a star performer like Wes Carr to launch this initiative is certainly an additional bonus,” said Mayor Trevor Vaughan.

City of South Perth Mayor, James Best said the concert event is a unique partnering experience to share with Vic Park: “We’re delighted to bring someone as talented as  Wes to the foreshore celebrations. This is an important example of how well neighbouring municipalities can work together to combine resources.”

Wes Carr will perform live at the free family Foreshore Festival on 21 February by the Swan River at Sir James Mitchell Park.
