New User Friendly Website for City

22nd October 2009

The City of South Perth has last week launched its brand new corporate website. Developed over the past six months, the new site is structured according to principles of best practice in web design.

Created with the end user experience as a priority, the site has had a major visual and structural overhaul. A new menu structure reflects research into how people are using the website and what they are searching for.

The new site provides a consistent corporate look across all pages on the site, which contains all the same information organised in a more user friendly way.

The City engaged leading digital consultants Market United to assist in implementing a new Content Management System for improved information security and functionality.

City of South Perth Mayor, James Best said the City can now offer a high quality online presence to the community: “It is with great excitement that I announce the City has successfully rolled out the first stage of its website upgrade.

“I am extremely pleased with new site and it has been a big task to work with the huge amount of information it housed, such as local events, latest news, public notices, Council Meeting minutes, tenders and information fact sheets.

“The new structure and search functions enable browsers to locate the things they are looking for within a few clicks.

“The whole project is expected to continue through 2010 and the second phase is expected to go live in early November and will cover the Our Council section, followed by phase three, which focuses on Jobs. In the meanwhile of course, all our existing site information continues to be available through the new site.

Ultimately we expect to have a world class online presence that achieves our business goals, is useful to our community members and projects a consistent professional image of our organisation.
