Ernest Johnson Reserve Master Plan
A master planning study into the potential redevelopment of Ernest Johnson Reserve will aim to accommodate the needs of sport clubs, the local community and the City, and to produce a contemporary, functional, multi-purpose and sustainable facility.
Community input will assist in determining whether a new facility is built or the existing facility will be modified.
Members of the community have the opportunity to share their views on the redevelopment at a public focus group.

Draft Local Housing Strategy - Extension of Community Engagement
The City of South Perth draft Local Housing Strategy is out for public comment. A number of community engagement forums have been held and the Council is keen to receive further public comment and feedback.
The City has extended the community engagement period by two weeks. The submission for comments deadline is 14 February 2012.
Copies of the Draft LocalHousing Strategy are available at the Town Planning Strategies Section and hardcopies are available at the South Perth Civic Centre, George Burnett Leisure Centre, South Perth Library and Manning Library.
Kerbside Bulk Waste Collection
The City’s regular kerbside bulk waste collection commences in Como Beach on Monday, 27 February. Rotating between the six wards, collections are taking place between late February to early April.
Each household in the City will be posted a brochure detailing specific collection dates for the area. Please check your collection date and remember NOT to place waste on your verge more than one week prior to your collection date, otherwise you will be instructed to remove it. If the City has to remove the waste it will be done at the occupant’s cost.
The bulk waste collection service removes:
- uncontaminated green/garden waste
- white goods and metal products
- general waste (old furniture and general domestic rubbish) and
- electronic waste and television sets
Please separate all waste into these four categories.
During the collection we will not remove the following:
- bricks, sand, rubble and cement
- foodstuff or household waste
- flammable liquid including household paint and oil
- motor vehicles, whole or parts
- tyres or batteries
- asbestos cement products
- hazardous chemical substances
- large tree trunks or stumps (maximum diameter 15cm and maximum length 1.5m)
- gas cylinders
- garage roller doors longer than 1.5m.
The City does not collect from vacant lots, commercial properties, right of ways, reserves or parks. All non conforming loads will not be removed.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the local government of the City of South Perth has prepared the abovementioned Scheme Amendment for the purposes of:
(a) introducing general enabling powers relating to Special Control Areas and the levying of development contributions;
(b) creation and operation of a Special Control Area comprising the South Perth Station Precinct;
(c) introducing specific development requirements for comprehensive new development in the South Perth Station Precinct.
Plans and documents setting out and explaining the Scheme Amendment have been deposited at the City of South Perth Civic Centre, cnr Sandgate Street and South Terrace, South Perth, and will be available for inspection during office hours up to and including Friday 9 March 2012. This report, together with the draft Amendment Text and Maps can also be inspected at the City’s Libraries and on the Out for Comment Section.
