City Councillor receives Australia Day Honours
City of South Perth Deputy Mayor and Councillor, Kevin Trent has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the General Division in the 2012 Australia Day Awards for service to local government and the community.
Councillor Trent was recognised for his significant contribution to numerous community and service groups.
A long-standing council member, he was first elected as councillor for the City in 1980 and served through to 1999 and then from 2002 to present. He currently holds the position of Deputy Mayor.
He is also acknowledged for his involvement at the West Australian Local Government Association where he has served as State Councillor for a number of years.
City of South Perth Mayor, Sue Doherty acknowledged Councillor Trent’s contribution to the City and the community.
“The City congratulates Councillor Trent on receiving this award in recognition of his significant contribution to local government and community over a very long period of time.
“We recognise Councillor Trent’s incredible contribution to the City of South Perth as well as numerous community and service groups within the City.
“The City is a better place for his involvement and the award is justly deserved.”
